Pine & Bedford’s Alepp-oh bar is our Canadian interpretation of the famous Laurel Berry Oil soaps associated with Aleppo, Syria. It isn’t a traditional Aleppo soap—we make ours in Canada and combine Laurel Berry Oil with Organic Olive and Coconut Oils to create a more modern, bubbly cleansing bar.
There is no added fragrance oil. Laurel Berry Oil gives Alepp-oh its naturally distinctive herbal, earthy and slightly smoky scent.
Green clay adds wonderful slip, helping the bar glide smoothly across the skin, while the blend of Olive, Coconut and Laurel Berry oils produces a satisfying cleansing lather.
Alepp-oh bridges two soap-making traditions: the unmistakable character of Laurel Berry Oil and the lather of a modern handcrafted bar. We call our bars Allep-oh because we have modernized the formula, and of course we are making it outside Syria.
Why Did I Make this Product: Ever since the day my grandmother arrived from England with a Bronnley Honeysuckle fragranced soap, I have been fascinated with traditional soap-making and the ingredients that have endured for generations. i was eight years old and had neer experienced such a rich, sweet lather before. I still remember it.
Years later, Aleppo soap caught my attention because of its distinctive Laurel Berry Oil and wonderfully simple heritage.
Our Alepp-oj bars weigh approximately 125 g / 4.5 oz and measure approximately: Width: 6.3 cm / 2.5 inches. Height: 6.9 cm / 2.75 inches. Depth: 2.5 cm / 1 inch.
