Pine and Beford's Laundry soap like all our soaps is paraben-free, sulfate-free, phosphate-free, detergent-free, phthalate-free, and vegan (antibiotic-free and animal bi-product free).
We use Coconut oil to make the main component of our Laundry Soap and grind the soap to a powder to make it concentrated, then it is blended with sodium borate (Borax) and sodium carbonate (Washing Soda). It comes in 3 versions: Lemon or Lavender Essential Oil and Fragrance-free. We fragrance it at a moderate level so you will smell the fragrance when you put the soap into the washing machine, but there will be no traces of fragrance on your clothes. They will be clean, and clean has no smell.
The package is 24 oz which will wash up to 48 regular loads. We suggest 1 Tbsp per regular load and up to 2 Tbsp for a larger or very dirty load. It doesn't seem like a lot, but keep in mind it is super-concentrated and most of us are a little heavy-handed with laundry soap resulting in a build-up of oil (we call it soap scum) on clothes.
Did you know? If you have hard water and experience soap scum you can add from 1/4 cup to 1 cup of vinegar to the rinse cycle. You will not smell the vinegar after the wash is complete but it will serve to break up the oils causing the soap scum. Vinegar will also help soften your clothes and prevent static.
Caution for Lemon and Lavender versions: These products contain Essential Oil which can cause sensitivity. Stop using immediately if you experience an allergic response.
